Well well well... it's been a while since my last post. A lot of things happened. I involved in many social activities related to Indonesian things such as Pesta Rakyat and Multicultural Mass. Also I involved in a WYD (World Youth Day) 2008 which will be held in Sydney. Surprisingly, I become more "alim" due to the activities that I involved in. Huehuheue... Nevertheless, It's fun. Especially in Pesta Rakyat and Multicultural mass. We performed angklung choir in that mass. Everybody was amazed with our performance. Well, It's 3-month preparation, so it's paid off I think. In this mass, all immigrants are invited and recommended to wear their own traditional clothes. Indeed, we used Batik. So, for those of you who have plan to live in abroad, don't forget to bring Batik, Kebaya, Konde, and other Indonesian related things. Because, in some occasion you have to use that, and for sure you will be more proud to be Indonesian.

In Pesta Rakyat, I on Games area. Huehueue.. It's fun to "bohongin" children. You know, we had very big dolls, and many children cried to their moms for a game which was easy to get a present but hard to get the dolls. Whehehe.. untung banyak deh. However, in Food area it's even more crazy. Perhaps, most of Indonesian food was available there. Started from Soto, Sayur Asem, Ikan Asin, Batagor, Siomay, Mie tektek, Sate, Bacang, Nasi goreng, Gado-gado, you name it! Not too bad lah unt memenuhi rasa kangen lidah gw ma makanan2x spt itu. FYI, di sini makanan semacam itu mayan mahal. Well, I had to spend around 20 AUD at that time. Besides that, I played tarik tambang together with Indonesian people. OMG, when I played that, my opponents were bules2x semua... buset parah, dua kali kedut langsung pada jatoh tersungkur... huehueh... We used all of our strength to pull that bloody rope, but they only pulled two times, we off.

Oh ya, another story that I'd like to share is my trip to Gold Coast: Surfer paradise, Currumbin Beach, and Movie World (kae dufan). Perhaps next time I'll write it. and also upload the photos for multicultural mass.

Anyw, I got another publication which is under review at this moment. Hopefully, it is accepted.

Investigation of the performance of Fuzzy edge detection for the extraction of facial features

ABSTRACT: This paper proposes a fuzzy logic based edge detector for feature extraction in static and video based images. These features are important for the purpose of face and human body recognition application in camera based surveillance systems. In the proposed method, edge detection is achieved by making use of both global (gray level histogram) and local (pixels within a window) information. The local information is fuzzified by employing a modified Gaussian membership function. Using a contrast intensification operator the image is enhanced to the required level of visual quality by entropy optimization of fuzzification parameters. A local edge detection operator is then applied on the enhanced image using parameters obtained from entropy optimization. Finally, a simple edge threshold is applied to obtain the desired edges in the image. A comparative analysis is performed with other well known gradient and Laplacian edge detectors. The performance of an edge detector is defined as the capability of identifying critical features in facial expressions such as eye brows, eyes, mouth, and facial line. Results will demonstrate the superiority of the proposed edge detector over methods.
